EPDM rubber flat roofs.
Felt roofs are why people think flat roofs leak. They do not have to. A properly installed EPDM goes on as one sheet, drains the way it should, and lasts decades.
Six stages from strip to single sheet.
EPDM, GRP fibreglass or torch on felt. Same discipline, same finish standard, same paperwork at sign off.
- 01. Strip and check the deck. Old felt or rubber lifted, deck inspected, wet OSB or chipboard cut out and replaced with 18mm exterior grade.
- 02. Falls and outlets. Falls checked and corrected with tapered insulation if needed. Outlets, scuppers and overflows positioned so water actually leaves the roof.
- 03. Prime and bond. Deck primed. EPDM membrane laid as one piece, fully bonded with contact adhesive. No mechanical fixings to fail. GRP option: laminate over CSM and topcoat to a flat finish.
- 04. Trims, kerbs, upstands. Aluminium drip trims to the eaves and verges, kerbs around roof lights and units, EPDM dressed up upstands and into chases.
- 05. Lead and flashings. Lead chases redressed where the roof meets brick. Cover flashings to BS 6915. Saddle pieces where two roofs meet so the joint cannot move.
- 06. Sign off and guarantee. 20 year manufacturer guarantee on the membrane. Photo record from drone and ground. Site cleared, gutters checked clear.
